Health Room Letter

Dear Parents/ Guardians:

Manheim Township School District is committed to maintaining a safe environment in our school buildings and within our community.  To that end, we want to provide you with basic information regarding symptoms we were seeing in a number of students yesterday such as abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.  The nurse has reported a significant decrease in physical symptoms being observed at Reidenbaugh today.

Our staff has been made aware of the symptoms, and we are taking all preventative measures and will be reviewing proper hygiene practices with students. Your support of these practices will assist us in managing a healthy school environment. Please take time to discuss the following with your child.

  • Avoid close contact with sick people
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water
  • Cover your coughs and sneezes
  • Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces
  • Stay home when you’re sick

We also want to inform you as to the actions the district continuously takes to provide a safe environment for all students. The Plant Services Department of Manheim Township School District is proactive in employing vigorous cleaning techniques, which promotes the health and safety of the students and staff. Our programs and procedures incorporate the latest and most efficient cleaning technologies that are available and utilized in schools and hospitals to improve not only cleaning outcomes but also infection control. We use a hospital-grade cleaner as a disinfectant on all high touch surfaces and in restrooms, etc. According to the CDC, hand washing is the most important step that a person can do to prevent the spread of infectious agents. Consequently we have hand soap dispensers in all of our hand washing sink areas and instant hand sanitizer dispensers installed in classrooms and key areas so that the students and staff may frequently wash their hands.

The health and safety of all our students is important to all of us and we appreciate your support and cooperation in this matter. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Trudi Smith

Principal
